Need & Task Analyses
Cooking is one of the oldest human occupations, and could be considered as an art. To acquire a better understanding of what is involved in preparing a meal (using recipes) in a modern setting, a quick and dirty task analysis has been performed.
Several interesting issues came out of this analysis:
- Preparation is a great part of the cooking process.
- The ingredients available in the kitchen play a great role in the choice of a recipe.
- Some very time-consuming activities such as shopping can be involved in the cooking process.
On the basis of the Hierarchical Task Analysis that has been performed in the earlier stages of the requirements specification, a questionnaire has been designed to apprehend more precisely the needs of the targeted audience, on a sample population of 20 people, mostly aged between 20 and 30 years students or young professional, single or living in couple with child.
The data collected with the help of the questionnaires is presented in the following pie charts.
